Shooting Fish in a Barrel

Shalelu and Gerund unsling their bows and start firing down the pit at the sea monster and goblin illuminated by Seoni's dancing lights. Sasha, Yola and Seoni set about the task of cutting lengths of spiney vines and weaving together a make shift rope.

Her elven eyes untroubled by the poor light, Shalelu quickly lands two hits on the creature, which is enough to make it reconsider its goblin snack. It releases Gogmurt and dives under the water, swimming swiftly out to sea to lick its wounds. Whimpering loudly, a badly mauled Gogmurt tries to swim over to the ledge.

"Poot!" calls Gerund over the hole. "Seoni, move your lights around, I can't see Poot!" he cries in alarm. Sure enough, the little halfling is nowhere to be seen. . .

OOC: Rachelle, good thinking with the Mage Hand spell! The max range is actually 35 ft ( still not enough to help here), it can move at a speed of 15 ft per round ( 3 squares).

Okay, you've got a wounded goblin trapped in the pit below, enough rope to get to the bottom, and no halfling to rescue.

"Where did he go? Dammit, I told you guys to hurry!" Seoni swears and moves the Dancing lights about, trying to catch a glimpse of Poot.

Eventually, Seoni suggests they try to "rescue" Gogmurt. They still have a mission and he would probably be a useful source of information...when he wasn't trying to kill them.

Sasha finishes binding up the vines and winds up the makeshift rope.

"Poot or Gogmurt? We could rescue one and ask questions of the other. Make sense. So now that we've got the rope who is going down there?"

Seoni flashes the lights all around the cave frantically, but there is no sign if Poot.

@Sasha: You can't rescue someone who's not there. . . Poot is NOT in the pit.

@ Greg - good point.

Sasha waits to see the decision the rest of the group comes up with.

Sasha looks around and checks the vines and double-checks the knotwork to ensure whoever gets pulled up it will hold.

"If Poot is hurt he may be able to tie himself to the rope. Should we lower someone down to find him? The monster has a few arrows in the head to stop it from being as fiesty."

"That's a great idea Sasha. Gerund and Yola can hold the rope and vine combo and they'll lower you down to the rescue. That goblin will be useful; we should probably grab him, if we can."

Sasha gives a firm nod in agreement.
