Inside Thistletop

The party presses on into Thistletop. Seoni sends her flaming sphere barrelling through the main gate and hears high pitched goblin shrieks from within. As the magic of the ancient scroll fades away and the sphere gutters and winks out, Yola and Gerund charge in and quickly dispatch the half dozen or so panicked goblin warriors there. Two had been killed by the flaming sphere crashing into their makeshift defensive line, while Yola and Gerund each killed one, sending the last two fleeing in random directions deeper into the fort.

Sasha, Seoni and Shalelu follow in and the party takes in their surrounding. The floor is hard packed soil, as if the builders ran out of wood after building the the walls and roof, or as if they simply never thought about building a floor. A number of poorly preserved horse and dog hears are mounted against the eastern wall, while along the southern wall hangs a pair of large bat-like wings tacked up with daggers. There are six doors leading out of this trophy hall, most of which have been throw open by goblins moving around in response to to your attack.

A door to the north leads to an open air courtyard (C16). Tenacious clumps of partially trampled grass grow fitfully here in the hard packed earth, in places stained with blood or scratched with furrows. To the north, what looks to be two dead goblins lie slumped against what looks to be an outbuilding.

The far north east door from the trophy hall leads to a barracks (C14). Six poorly constructed bunk beds, little more than hammocks slung from rickety frames, stand along the walls. Each is heaped with a vermin infested blanket and a lump of straw that serves as a frustrating pillow .

One of the northern trophy hall doors leads to a downwards staircase. One of the fleeing goblins disappeared down here, while the other threw open the double doors, and barricaded himself in the room beyond.

Check out the map below for more details. The black arrows show the paths taken by the fleeing goblins. The two red "X"s are the goblin corpses found in the court yard. Rooms C12 and C17 are food storage sheds while C13 and C15 are the towers, now empty. Where do you want to go next?

Seoni says, "Maybe it's time we tried talking to them? Tell them to lay off Sandpoint and stop listening to the 'longshanks' giving them bad advice. I think we've made a pretty good point here. Gerund, what do you think? Time for a speech?"

Sasha takes a look at Seoni in disbelief. "Reason, with them now? We just spent the last 20 minutes shooting arrows into them."

Sasha thumbs her rapier and then sheathes it. Grabbing her whip she gives it a playful crack. "I'll go the non-lethal route for now. If you want to talk then talk. The moment anyone of them razes a blade, bow or casts something that looks marginally like a spell the rapier comes out and it stays out."

Sasha shakes her head in disbelief. If it had been anyone else suggesting this she would have ignored them and run the snots through by now. Senoi is different. she has a wisdom and a sense of naive wonder about her. AFterall, Sasha thought maybe she was right but more importantly maybe she didn't want to se the Sorceress grow jaded like her.

"Slaughtering the entire village seems...inappropriate. If the goblins are being misled, perhaps they will turn over the troublemakers and save us a lot of trouble. I say we drag old Gogmurt out here and see if he can talk some sense into them."

It's a good idea to get Gogmurt on our side and see what he has to say but then again he could turn on us in a minute.

Especially if Tsuto's girlfriend is hiding out down there, she may have the chief's ear.

I say we get as much of this place uncovered as we can, that other fellow went downstairs - sounds like a good enough direction to me.

Sasha listens to Yola and nods. "Seoni, sometimes to reason with the unreasonable you do have to descend to their level. We can sort this mess out after we are on top."

Sasha takes her rapier in her other hand and follow's Yolas lead. "I saw we clean out the main floor so we don't need to worry about the little snots coming down behind us."

"What? 'We come in peace'? I doubt that would sound sincere at this point.

"I agree with Yola, let's check out the rest of the fort first. I'll start by heading across the courtyard and check out the far door. If there's any kind of ambush waiting, I'll yell."

Seoni shrugs. "Okay, hack and slash it is then. Lead on."

Before Gerund leaves, she hits him with Touch of Destiny.

Sasha listens to Gerund and feels her since of respect of his pragmatism rise immensely. Putting her whip away she pulls out her rapier come to a set of doors along with the group.

She looks at Gerund and Yola. "There's four doors in the front and one off the side. Any thoughts?"

Sasha turns to Yola and Seoni.

"I wonder what Poot would do? Aside from coping a feel and sending crashing through the first door..... that little pervert. I don't know about you guys but there's something about short men and gorgeous rogues that makes them rather unseemingly. Well, at least he's not like that other halfling at the pub covered in tattoos. Could have been an artist you know what there like. Well, in the true spirit Poot I say we break down the first door with swords blazing"

Sasha smiles a wide grin and gives her friends the 'v' sign for victory who give her the 'what narcotiv did the goblins infict with look'

Sasha then goes to the main door and sees if she can pick the lock.
