While Sasha investigates the double doors that the fleeing goblin went through, Gerund moves into the exercise yard to examine the outbuilding and two dead goblins there.
The door to the outbuilding has been nailed shut, and additional boards have been nailed over these nails. The door itself is cracked and splintered in places. The two dead goblins, their heads crushed in by something heavy, lie in the dirt by the door, their ripening bodies covered in flies.
Sasha, meanwhile, is surprised to discover that the doors to the rest of the fort are not locked. She hesitates, unsure now whether to barge on in or wait for the rest of her comrades.

"Now, I wonder what could be behind that door, that they're so determined to keep shut?" he wondered.
He looked back at the bodies, "Something nasty? A training beast of some kind? Big brutish something or other - with big feet - that they practice on and got the better of them, I think."
He decides to check out the other door to the North.
Yola follows Gerunds lead and calls back to Sasha to follow her into the other room.
